"You are The Star"

I took this "What Tarot Card are You" quiz just now. Inspired by a director that I just worked with to take it. You know, even though, I think stuff like this is jargon, there comes a nice reinforcement such as this (HA!):

On a totally DIFFERENT note...I finished Lilli Palmer's autobiography. I'm kinda sad, though. Why sad? Well, because I wanted more. I think that is the best way to end the book. What a writer she is. She has also penned 5 novels of fiction. I think perhaps I may have to get my hands on all her works besides her films. I'd love to see her paintings as well...

Did I mention that I Love her? I didn't? Well...I do.

Lilli wrote that in her autobiography Change Lobsters--and Dance (1975). I've been trying to do some research on the internet about her...can't get much. Though, I have gotten interesting tidbits here and there. VERY interesting tidbits. I will be receiving her autobiography any day now (which I'm very excited about). I can't wait to learn more about this sensitive, elegant, lovely, witty woman.

She also said, "Fidelity is a gift not a requirement."

Yikes! I don't know about that...I love her but I must disagree with her. Granted, she is coming from a most different place than I am. But still...don't cheat! That's all. (Though, I do understand what she means)

If you have time...watch the following 10 clips. It was a remake done from the 1931 version of the film. Lilli Palmer and Romy Schneider star. Romy's character loses her parents in an accident and is sent to a boarding school in Prussia. She falls in love with her teacher played by Lilli. In an older blog on Romy Schneider, I talk about this film. I haven't seen some of these newer clips, though. So, I'm excited that I get to watch what I missed from the older clips!!!

I first heard of Anita Morris when I got the cast recording of NINE starring Raul Julia. What a performer she is! I don't know anything about her except that she's got CHOPS!!! And she's gorgeous! AND she handles herself exceptionally well when a mishap with her costume occurs=)

Here is some of the research I've gathered on this beguiling creature...

She was born in 1943 in North Carolina. She married Grover Dale, a director and choreographer for the stage. They had one child together, James Badge Dale (who has the dreamiest eyes). In 1980, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She was told that she had 5 years at the most to live. The doctors were wrong. She lived until 1994. Oh, and by the by...the date on that clip is 1981. A year AFTER she was diagnosed. Man!

"I showed New York that sex on a stage can be fun. I've been a sex symbol all my life, but it doesn't bother me. I can sing, dance and act. What do I have to worry about?" (Nothing at all, Anita. Nothing. At. All.)

Actress Playing Juliet Falls from Balcony

A production of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare's tragedy of star- crossed lovers, ended abruptly at a Worcestershire theatre when the actress playing Juliet fell off the balcony during the play's most famous scene, it emerged yesterday.

Laura Rees was so engrossed in her role at the Malvern Theatre on Friday night that she leaned out a little too far and tumbled eight feet down on to the stage, the English Touring Theatre's spokesman Drew Colverd said.

She suffered bruising and minor injuries that needed hospital treatment, and wounded pride. The remainder of that evening's performance was cancelled and Ms Rees will need a week to recover before resuming her role in Oxford.

How Ms Rees came to fall off the balcony is unclear, but an inspection of the set had not disclosed any faults, Mr Colverd said. "It seems that Laura was simply acting her socks off. She was so engrossed in the part, and just leant out a bit too far and she fell about eight feet.

"She is absolutely fine and a little bit embarrassed, but thankfully she only had a few bruises. Fortunately we have a natural break now of around a week and a half before we move on to Oxford for the next stage of the tour.

"It is very unfortunate that we had to cancel, but we are not the sort of company that employs understudies and there is no way we would expect Laura to carry on after what happened."

Mr Colverd added that the set had undergone full safety checks before it was assembled, and also following the incident last night, but no faults were discovered and there were no plans to modify it.

WOMAN IN LOVE

That is my window. Just now
I have so softly wakened.
I thought that I would float.
How far does my life reach,

I could think that everything

transparent like a crystal's
depths, darkened, mute.

I could keep even the stars
